Ekskäret
FOUNDATION

With the aim facilitate the co-creation of a more conscious society, the Ekskäret Foundation creates arenas and various initiatives with the goal of stimulating sustainable development at both an individual as well as a societal level.

Our firm belief is that personal consciousness development contributes to the long-term and sustainable development of individuals as well as businesses and society. Therefore, we encourage questioning and deepening of insights about social norms and values. We want to strengthen the individual's ability to develop a greater sense of empathy, complexity awareness and co-creation, ie basic abilities of consciousness development. With increased responsibility and an expanded leadership, both at the individual level as well as in companies and organizations, we can drive the change that is necessary to respond to current and future societal challenges. This way, we can create lasting systemic changes.

The Foundation's mission is to facilitate the co-creation of a more conscious society. We do this by providing arenas for inquisitive exploratory meetings and lifelong learning. The Foundation creates and also supports various initiatives, conferences, seminars, courses, and more with the goal of bringing together individuals, organizations and companies in exploring and learning meetings, often with a cross-border perspective.

HANS SAUER
FOUNDATION

Hans Sauer founded his foundation in 1989 with the vision that in the future, innovations generally emerge from a social and ethical motivation and thus generate measurable social and ecological benefits.

The Hans Sauer Foundation has made it its mission

• specifically to promote technical and social innovations that focus on social benefits;
• integrate ethical, ecological and intercultural issues into the innovation process;
• promote the development of responsible thinking and acting competencies.

DAS Progressive
Zentrum

Das Progressive Zentrum is an independent think tank, founded in 2007 as a non-profit initiative. In other countries, think tanks have long established a dynamic market for ideas and have become key players in public debates. Like all industrialised countries, Germany will need to find answers to the challenges triggered by the rapid socio-economic, cultural, technological and ecological transformations of the 21st century. Thus, it can only benefit from a lively conglomerate of innovative institutions catering to the need for modernisation.

Das Progressive Zentrum aims to:– strengthen democratic dialogue within Germany and across borders;
• shape a new understanding of progress – a new progressive narrative for a modern dynamic society, a just economy and a modern state of the 21st century;
• analyse problems and develop evidence-based solutions;
• link discussions in Germany to international debates through bringing together key actors from academia, the media, business and politics;
• provide a platform for an international exchange of ideas, in particular for the next generation of progressive thinkers, researchers and policymakers.

Institute for
participatory design

Today, larger initiatives and institutions such as environmental and social organizations, churches, non-profit associations as well as public-private partnership projects are faced with challenges which require entirely new approaches to organization, collaboration and cocreation.

These approaches can already be characterized as being based neither on hierarchical top-down or bottom-up thinking, nor on horizontal consensus approaches. Instead, they are concerned with recognizing the diversity of all those involved. They develop the individual potential in the interest of a common emergent goal.

At the Institute for Participative Design we regard the development of methods and solutions for these approaches as an urgent field of research. For many years we have been working creatively with a diverse range of groups in order to collaboratively develop concepts and projects.

Mehr Demokratie

Mehr Demokratie is the driving force for citizens' initiated referenda and a better electoral law. Every vote counts equally and everybody has the right to participate. That's what we stand for.

Citizens committed to change founded Mehr Demokratie in 1988. Today we have thirteen regional branches, eight offices and approximately 10,000 members. Mehr Demokratie is the largest non-party organization promoting democracy in the European Union. We are the biggest non-governmental organization for direct democracy in the world, impartial and not-for-profit.

A redesign process of the EU will only succeed if it differs significantly from the path followed so far. We will need to discuss a redistribution of power between the four political levels (municipalities, regions, nation states, EU). The objective must be to transfer competences back to levels closer to the citizens. We see both the EU and the nation states to have duties in this decentralizing process. The power accumulated at EU level requires stricter legitimization than before.
